Alba for bassoon and electronics, the third in a set of eleven compositions collectively entitled Fictions, was completed in June 1987. Alba was commissioned by Alexandre Ouzounoff with funds from the Arts Council of Great Britain, and is dedicated in memory of Martyn Hutchinson, a close friend who fell victim to Aids in 1986.
