Illuminer le temps is the fifth in a series of six compositions collectively entitled After Matta, related to the work of the Chilean painter Roberto Matta (b. Santiago , 1911). All six compositions may be performed together, or in a selection, or in a selection of two, three, four or five adjacent parts, or alone. A performance of the complete series, entitled After Matta, should preferably feature each part “accompanied” by a projection of the painting of the same title on a large screen behind and above the performers.
