Invention 6 (1982)

Invention 6 was written early in 1982 and is dedicated to Roger Wright. The final version was first performed by Luc Brewaeys during the Darmstadter Ferienkurse fur neue Musik in July 1984. It takes the form of a "drama" between three musical layers, whose outcome is implied by a quotation, appended to the score, from Samuel Beckett's novel 'Company': "And how better in the end labour lost and silence. And you as you always were. Alone."
