Temptation (1986) |
Temptation was
written between October and December 1986, and was commissioned by Metanoia
with funds from the Welsh Arts Council. It was first performed by Metanoia on
8 February 1987 at St. John's Smith Square, London.
The title and to some extent the form of the work relate to Flaubert's dramatic
prose-poem 'La Tentation de Saint-Antoine'. It forms the second part of a series
of compositions collectively entitled Fictions, following Anatomy for 11 amplified
instruments. I should like to record my gratitude to Glyn Perrin for his invaluable
assistance with synthesizer-programming.
