Autumn Leaves |
13 pieces for young pianists
Autumn Leaves is a collection of thirteen short piano works completed in 2003. The collection began in the autumn of 2000 as a few random, individual works written initially as gifts for friends and relatives. In 2002 I decided to formalise the growing collection by adding some further works inspired by autumnal themes such as British and American holidays as well as the Washington Irving tale of the Headless Horseman. The collection was never intended to be played as a suite but like the annual collection of back garden leaves, there is a certain logic to what ultimately makes its way into the collection bag.
