Rim Fire (2002) |
For quadraphonic percussionists - c.4'
Rim fire is a type of pistol cartridge that has the explosive cap on the edge of the shell casing. The word Rim fire is also used in the American West to describe a brush fire that is stopped by the edge of a canyon. In this work Rim fire combines those two ideas and refers to a work in which the audience is surrounded by percussionists firing rim shots into them. Rim Fire was written in 2002 for Ensemble Bash for their 10 th anniversary tour. The commissioning funds were provided by the Performing Right Society, UK.
