Commissioned for The Chamber Music Exchange by Thalia Myers with financial support from the Holst Foundation, The Britten-Pears Foundation and RVW Trust.
"Thule ultima" was the Roman word for the "most distant regions"- remote and foreign territories such as Britain. This work for woodwind quintet explores a few of those foreign territories and distant regions on the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn and along the way discovers a few unusual sounds.
