Keith Bartlett begins all sections in each book with a short note of advice for the student which is both informative and fun. Musical terms and expressions are introduced throughout the series in an approachable manner. The Drum Kit books encourage the student to develop their own ideas in conjunction with learning the techniques and rhythms associated with Rock, Jazz and Latin styles.

Keith Bartlett was a prize-winning student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has developed a successful performing career playing with many of the country's leading orchestras and ensembles. He holds teaching posts at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, St Paul's School and Pangbourne College amongst others.
