Hinomi (1979)

Hinomi was written at the request of Nottingham University Music Department, for Elizabeth Davis, to whom it is dedicated. The title of the piece is taken from the Japanese Bunraku - and a play in which a bell positioned at the top of a fire warning tower is rung to warn the villagers of an impending attack by hostile outsiders.
